Friends and Fruits

In the framework of Art Brussels, Antoine Espinasseau presented his artistic practice and discussed his fascinations with botanical gardens, thermoformed shapes, and decomposing fruits, on Wednesday 22 April.

Antoine Espinasseau is a sculptor whose work spans sculpture, film, collage, and photography. His works have been exhibited in various cultural institutions, galleries, foundations, and biennials.

In his practice, the environment, or what he often refers to as circumstances, operates as an integral component of the work, alongside the objects themselves. Attentive to gestures of displacement, the images, objects, and scenes he brings into view often appear in order to evoke another place or another presence. This off-screen space, a privileged territory for the artist, remains suggested rather than fully revealed, and it is precisely this encounter that Antoine Espinasseau seeks to create.
