Baukunst : Recent Works

We are delighted to announce the opening of the upcoming exhibition Recent Works by Baukunst in our space et al., on Thursday 26 March.

In recent years, the work of Baukunst has come to occupy a distinctive place within the architectural landscape. More recently, the completion of emblematic projects in the Belgian capital, such as FRAME and MANUFAKTURE, has further reinforced the presence of the Brussels-based practice within the contemporary architectural discourse. This international recognition is marked by the publication of three books dedicated to their work: In a way, It is also more primitive, a discussion on four exhibitions, the latest issue of the 2G magazine n°95, including various projects of the office, and FRAME, documenting the construction of the eponymous building. Each of these publications presents a particular aspect of the office's work and seeks to shed light on the project process at Baukunst.

Echoing the release of these publications, and seeking to extend the questions they raise, the exhibition Recent Works presents a selection of projects by Baukunst in order to discuss the lines of research currently unfolding within the practice. Through the presentation of both known and previously unseen projects, the exhibition does not attempt to fix the work of the office within a retrospective perspective. Rather, it proposes an atlas of the ideas, investigations, and questions that animate the daily practice of Baukunst.

The opening of the exhibition on March 26 was accompanied by the book launch of these three publications. The opening started with a brief introduction in the presence of contributors to the various publications: Olivier Campagne, Romain Cavallin, Manuela Dechamps Otamendi (Studio Otamendi), Maxime Delvaux & Carlo Menon (Accattone).

In the framework of this exhibition, visits were organized and a discussion between Adrien Verschuere (Baukunst) and Nikolaus Hirsch (Kanal Architecture) took place on Monday 20 April.
